Review Policy

I began this blog as a way to combine all my thoughts on the books that I read. Before, during, and after reading a book I always have a lot to say about it. When my coworkers started hiding under their desks as I entered the room, I decided it was time for an outlet for my thoughts. That idea grew into A Journey of Books. I'm proud to say that now my coworkers come to visit my thoughts here and no longer hide from me when I show up at work.

Many of the books that I read and review are books that I have sought out and purchased myself, but I am happy to and have accepted books for review as well. Blog tours, interviews and other promotional activities are welcomed.

What I Read
Typically I read Urban Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Paranormal Romance, but I typically find great enjoyment out of any genre including some nonfiction. I am also looking for more Young Adult books to review and would love to take a look at yours.  In general, if you have a question as to whether or not I will accept a book for review, it's best to just shoot me a quick email. In addition, you can take a peek at the books I have already reviewed.  This list is located in the sidebar.  If you scan my GoodReads profile you can also see what kinds of books I have read, am currently reading or want to read. I do accept and welcome electronic works.

What Else I'm Looking For
If you are a cover artist or want to pass this on to your cover artists, I am currently looking for more cover artists to participate in UnderCover Friday, a Friday feature about book covers. I am for more artists to discuss their work for this feature.

When To Expect A Review
Reviews will go live anytime between the release date and two weeks prior to that. If you have a specific request for when you'd like the review to go up, please make sure to include this in your review request. Reviews are posted on A Journey of Books, GoodReads, LibraryThing, Amazon, Powell's Books, and Barnes & Noble if available. If you would like the review to go up elsewhere, let me know and we will get it there.

Traffic
When considering reviewers, the audience that the reviewer can reach is very important to an author. Feel free to view my site statistics from StatCounter or SiteMeter.

Contacting Me
Please contact me at ajourneyofbooks (at) gmail (dot) com. I promise to respond to your emails within 48 hours unless I have been run over by a crazy stampede of angry rhinos or raccoons.

Unsolicited Books
I will accept unsolicited eBooks, or print books from folks I have worked with in the past.  Basically, if you already have my mailing address, go for it.  I would appreciate an email letting me know to expect something; however, I understand busy schedules don't always allow for the time to send out emails.  You all know what I read, I trust your judgement.  If something does not quite fit the feel of the blog, as a professional courtesy to you, I will still feature the book here and discuss it a bit.  More detailed discussions will still go up around the web (Goodreads, LibraryThing, Amazon, Barnes & Noble).

Disclaimer
I am an Amazon Associate but as of yet have not received any compensation from Amazon. Any compensation that I may receive goes back into the upkeep of this blog (shipping). Many of the books that I review I have bought, but a percentage of the books I review have been sent to me for that purpose. Regardless of whether I have purchased the book or not, it still receives an honest review from me.

For books received for review - I am not required to write a positive review. The opinions I express are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

Thanks for taking the time to check out A Journey of Books!
